    Dear Representative Walker,

As anyone would be, I am excited about the idea of tax reform… because who doesn’t like the sound of a tax cut and more money in one’s pocket? Over the past few weeks I have called or sent written correspondences to you about the tax reform bill and I hope I am not alone. I hope many others are participating in Democracy. I remain concerned that the tax bill is being pushed forward for three reasons 1. it’s being rushed and thus, I would expect it would be flawed. All good things take time. 2. It’s seems it’s a gift for the wealthy who tend not to give to others. That’s why they remain wealthy. 3. I understand that it will increase the National Debt. I really thought the Republican Party was about being fiscally responsible.

Jesus did not rob the poor to give to the rich. “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5). In this respect, the bill seems to me to be contrary to Christian theology. I mention this not because Christianity is the National Religion, but because the Republican Party so often upholds moral principles.

I truly hope that these tax reforms are really intended for the good of society and not to appease those who have donated much to elect candidates. I have no choice but to place my faith in my representatives and appeal to their good conscience.

    Sincerely yours,

    S. Catherine S. Key
